Best Deal on Continuing Education for Speech Pathologists

Before the hectic pace of a new school year begins, I’ve decided to get some continuing education credits under my belt.  My favorite way to get a ton of credits for the least amount of money is through the website SpeechPathology.com.

I have used this website since 2007 and can’t recommend it enough. I love that I can learn in the comfort of my own home whenever my schedule allows – and pay no hotel room and travel costs!

If you’re not familiar with this website, here are some of the benefits:

  • Unlimited CEU courses for one year for $99
  • Live, recorded, text-based, and podcast courses available
  • Automated CEU reporting to ASHA and/or CASLPA

Check out SpeechPathology.com’s website and see if it’s right for you.

If you’ve used their website before, leave a comment and tell us about your experience.

  1. Thanks for the tip! I’ve heard great things about this website too but have not yet tried it. Is it okay to do all 30 in one year and have them all be online? Wasnt sure if some should be in person or not….

    thanks :) enjoy summer!!

  2. Hi!

They can all be done on-line: ) We have a 3 year interval to complete the requirement. We can space them out or complete them all in the last month… Yikes!! Procrasination is a scary thought.

I to am thankful for speechpathology.com and have learned a wealth of information in just 3-4 years of membership. I can’t imagine not being a life time member. Customer service is phenomenal; although, I’ve only used it with my initial registration when I had a couple questions about my CEU’s transfering over to ASHA and password or login questions.

I think one of the best features of membership is using the site to research and prepare for time sensitive situations which come up in clinical practice. Get a new diagnosis your not all that familiar with?? Need some tips on converting to private practice or maybe have an ethical dilemma? Go to speechlanguagepatholgy.com, type in a few search queries, and within minutes, your likely to have a wealth of resources ready to motivate you….

I almost sound like a an advertisement.. lol. I should add that I have no relation or financial interest in the site or to any of it’s investors !! I’m just a SLP who has come to really appreciate the benefits of affordable and readibly available on-line continuing education resources.

  3. I’m glad you’ve had such a great experience too, Kristen. I have completed all of my required hours online before too.

Just to clarify a point you made about the 3 year interval. I believe you are referring to ASHA’s requirements. Some states also have CEU requirements that are different from ASHA’s. I know that here in Florida we need 30 hours every two years. So everyone should check with their state to be sure.

Thanks for the comment. I’m sure it will help others who are considering using SpeechPathology.com

  4. I’m loving on-line course offerings too, but I definitely agree with Becky’s comment about everyone checking with their own state’s requirements and regulations. I’m in New York, and only 20 out of the 30 required hours for New York State can be self-study, which means that at least 10 of my hours need to be live conferences.

  5. Hi Denise!

I’m from NY too and I had a feeling about that 20 hrs and 10 hrs thing but I couldnt find where I saw it. Do you have a link for that information??

    Thank you :)

  6. So if I join in July of 2011, I could get all my CEU’s for 2011 and in January start earning my CEUs for 2012, as long as I get all of them before next July? So $50 a year for 2 years?? What a deal!

  7. Another good resource for CEU’s is Superduperinc.com, and these are free. Although they are promoting their products, I’ve found them to be very helpful.

  8. You can also get free CEUs from LinguiSystems. You sign up for their free LinguiList and they have a nice selection of on-line CEUs including a 2 hour ethics course that can be used to meet your TX ethics requirement. They are an ASHA approved provided so it will count for your TX CEUs as well as ASHA requirements.
