Combining Direct Objects in Winter Sentences

Combining Direct Objects in Winter Sentences
This set of materials focuses on combining direct objects in winter sentences.  By combining two basic sentences into one concise sentence, students become aware of sentence structure and sentence quality.  This can then be carried over to their own writing and editing skills.

Students can use the sentence pieces to identify and remove the redundant sentence parts and then can practice arranging the sentences correctly.  You can then have them practice writing the sentence on the worksheet provided.  Or, use the worksheet as a pre-test and post-test for this skill by cutting it in half.

This set of materials is focused on combining two sentences into one sentence with multiple direct objects.  For example, combine “Marty baked a cake.” and “Marty baked cookies.” into “Marty baked a cake and cookies.”  Included are sentence pieces to cut apart and have the students arrange, a worksheet, and an answer sheet.

Interactive Material: This material includes an interactive version that can be used in teletherapy. The file can be uploaded to Google Slides or opened in PowerPoint and then shared with the student. In order to drag and drop the pieces, make sure you are in edit mode (NOT in presentation mode). If you are using PowerPoint, you’ll need to enable editing.
