These rearranging sentence parts are different than those posted previously. With these sentences, students arrange the sentence pieces into two different sentences by making an adjective describe two different nouns. For example, one set of sentence pieces could be arranged as “The lucky boy found a clover.” or as “The boy found a lucky clover.”
For a group activity, give each student the pieces to make a sentence. Have them raise their hands when they are finished making their first sentences so you can check them. Then have the students change the describing word to make another sentence and raise their hands again for you to check their work. Once a student has completed both sentences with a set of pieces, have him/her pass the pieces to the student on his/her right.
- After cutting apart each sentence, number the back of the sentence pieces so that the pieces are easy to sort out by sentence.
