Verb variety is the key to this activity/game. Students reach into a bag or bowl and pull out a game card. Then they have to fill in a missing verb to complete the sentence on the card.
To play it as a competitive game, have the student or team complete the sentence with as many different verbs as possible, earning a point for each one. If you’d like, you can then allow the other students or team to get points for coming up with appropriate verbs not previously given. Bonus points can also be earned for using vivid verbs or correct subject/verb agreement.
You just may be surprised at how many creative verbs your students can come up with!
