Feed the Jack-o-Lantern - R Sounds

This activity is a fun way for your students to practice their speech sounds! With the printable page, you can cut a hole in the jack-o-lantern’s mouth for the cards to go into and attach it to an empty tissue box, cup, or other container. Printing on cardstock and/or laminating the jack-o-lantern will help it stand up better. There are 60 pictures included for /r/ in various sound positions (initial, medial, and final), but you can use the jack-o-lantern with any picture cards you have.

With the interactive version, students drag a picture to the jack-o-lantern’s mouth and it “disappears”. It is recommended that you make a copy of the original file before using it to make “resetting” it easier.

Interactive Material: This material includes an interactive version that can be used in teletherapy. The file can be uploaded to Google Slides or opened in PowerPoint and then shared with the student. In order to drag-and-drop the pieces, make sure you are in edit mode (NOT in presentation mode). If you are using PowerPoint, you’ll need to enable editing.
