Down by the Bay Fill-in Story for Categories

I love using fill-in-the-blank stories to work on language skills! Down by the Bay is a beach-themed story that has students fill in words that fit in basic categories.
If you are just introducing categories, discuss what they are and come up with a list items together. Then have the students fill in the story with words from the list. You can also have the students come up with their own lists of items for the basic categories used if they are able to. Read the story back to them with their answers filled in and talk about what parts do and don’t make sense. Have fun and remember that in this case the sillier the story, the better!
With the interactive version, students pick from a list of choices and then drag the word to the story.
Interactive Material: This material includes an interactive version that can be used in teletherapy. The file can be uploaded to Google Slides or opened in PowerPoint and then shared with the student. In order to drag and drop the pieces, make sure you are in edit mode (NOT in presentation mode). If you are using PowerPoint, you’ll need to enable editing.
