Identifying Words to Capitalize

Identifying Words to Capitalize

Before addressing rules for capitalization, see what your students already know!  The included pre-test has a list of 20 words (10 of which should be capitalized).  Students circle the words they think should be capitalized.  Scoring is quick and easy, and an answer sheet is provided.  There are two pre-tests per page to reduce paper usage.

Once you’ve finished working on capitalization, use the post-test to track your students’ progress.  It also has 20 words for the students to choose from and has two post-tests per page.

With the interactive file, students drag words into the column for “words that get capitalized” or “words that DON’T get capitalized.”

Interactive Material: This material includes an interactive version that can be used in teletherapy. The file can be uploaded to Google Slides or opened in PowerPoint and then shared with the student. In order for the drag-and-drop pieces to work, make sure you are NOT in presentation mode. If you are using PowerPoint, you’ll need to enable editing.
